Your Best/Top/Favorite Music of 2024
A community post of year-end lists!
As we conclude 2024, I wanted to offer a post in which we all could look back at the music we enjoyed this year. So here is a roundup of some year-end best/top/favorite music lists from the community!
What I found enjoyable about the diversity of these lists went beyond the music discovery itself (which is obviously a huge component of the experience). It really resonated with me how many list makers made the distinction of referring to our lists as subjective and based on personal preference, myself included. For me, this reduces the compulsory need to include music that’s on everyone else’s lists, leading to more personalized write-ups and reflections.
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with having the same list as everyone else, but it’s important to remember that music listening and (to a greater extent) writing about music is not a competition! There’s room for everyone to express their unique viewpoints. Even if we listen to the same music, we are not hearing or experiencing it in the same exact way.
On that note, please enjoy the selection of 2024 music recaps below. There’s 24 featured list makers in total. Majority of these recaps were submitted directly to me, but I’ve also included a few that I encountered and engaged with in my feed.
