We’re building a directory!
It’s become apparent to me that creators of music-centered publications want to find each other, but some folks aren’t sure where to look. Granted, there’s the music leaderboard, but what about the more niche publications? Or what if musicians could discover each other easier, leading to more collaboration and harmony? This is where The Music Directory will come in. Together, we’ll build a living document that gives us more awareness of other Substack music writers, musicians, curators, historians, and everyone in between.
Who am I? My name is Shanté, and I’m the writer of two music-related publications: things i collected and a filmless score.1 I’m excited to announce that submissions for The Music Directory are open via Google Forms. From here, these listings will be added to a form (most likely Google Sheets or Notion, TBD) and available for viewing by category. In the future, submissions will open periodically.
My goal is to unveil the first iteration of the list in November, depending on how many submissions are received. This Substack publication will be the hub for updates, and eventually, it’ll be an extension of the document once more details are solidified.
